Direct Primary Care

Direct Primary Care is a fast-growing area of medicine because patients and providers alike are frustrated with the current insurance-driven system. Drs. King and Klaucke will focus on you and your health without the unnecessary encroachment of insurance companies. We believe that the best primary care medicine is both personal and affordable, and that’s what we offer, without the red tape.  We want you, as a member of our practice, to experience a patient-doctor relationship based on trust and respect, and get the care you deserve.

Our patient benefits are extensive. You will enjoy include full access to your physician, meaning you will have more time with your provider, 24/7 access, no co-pays, and no limit on visits. Your monthly membership fee covers general adult physicals, women’s healthcare, newborn and pediatric care, wellness education, chronic disease management, minor procedures and coordination of care with specialists when needed. We also offer the added savings and convenience of an onsite wholesale pharmacy and lab.

We still encourage patients to maintain an insurance policy, especially to cover catastrophic events. However, for your primary care needs, we offer low cost medical care (not insurance).

About our Physicians

Dr. Frazier King

Dr. Frazier King opened Sandpoint Direct Primary Care to practice full-spectrum primary care. Adopting the Direct Primary Care model allows Dr. King to focus on his patients’ needs without worrying about meeting meaningless requirements set by insurance companies and Medicare.

Dr. King has been in practice for 40 years. He received his MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed his residency training at the University of Utah Family Practice at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. Dr. King is passionate about understanding disease and working with his patients to fix their ailments.

Dr. King is happily married and has three sons. In his spare time he enjoys skiing, sailing and reading.

Dr. Jillian Klaucke

Jillian Klaucke, MD, FAWM, is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician and Sandpoint native. She joins Sandpoint Direct Primary Care after gaining experience across the globe, beginning with medical school in Nevada, residency in Billings, Montana, work as an attending physician in Baltimore, Maryland, and traveling for general practice work in New Zealand.

Dr. Klaucke has received specialty training in Wilderness Medicine, and has been awarded Fellow in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). Wilderness Medicine is the practice in resource-limited environments, but may also translate to the office environment for travel planning or recreation advice. As a lifelong lover of outdoor sports, she finds that her avocation and vocation meet perfectly under this educational focus.

Jillian is passionate about providing whole patient care and helping pioneer a new direction in healthcare, thereby allowing for meaningful, lifelong relationships to develop between doctor and patient. She loves taking care of whole families. She is very happy to return to Sandpoint with her husband and two children.

We have negotiated wholesale lab prices for send-out testing, and we do not charge for in-house labs, such as urinalysis. We also provide wholesale, generic medications through our office pharmacy without a huge markup. For example, a common medication, such as your blood pressure medication, may only cost $2-3 for a 90 day supply.

Additionally, many procedures are included in your membership fee. For example, cryotherapy, simple lesion removal, and sutures/laceration repair are all included in your membership fee. If there is an extra charge for a service, you will know exactly what it is before proceeding. For a full list of services, click HERE.

We provide a yearly preventive exam (physical) that will be tailored to your personal medical needs. It’s all about you, and your specific goals for wellness. A physical exam will be done, and appropriate tests will be ordered. We will also make sure you are up to date with all recommended health screenings and preventive measures.

Communicate freely with your physician….

We don’t have a long hold times, or barriers to your doctor - we encourage you to get directly in touch with your personal physician. If you need help after hours, weekends, and even holidays, we will be there for you. And, you’ll be able to reach us via phone, email and text.

Because we have reserved our time for a smaller panel of patients, there will be no “squeezing you in.” In our practice model, you are a priority, and you’ll feel like one. We will do everything in our power to get you into the office the same day or next day when you need care.

You won’t feel rushed through an appointment, and there’s never a question you won’t have time to ask. Part of the relationship you’ll build with your doctor is based on your understanding of your care - personalized healthcare.

If you require a consultant for specialty medical care, Dr. King and Dr. Klaucke will work closely with that specialist. Because Sandpoint Direct Primary Care is not affiliated with any other healthcare systems, we will all work together to make important decisions on your behalf.

If you need hospitalization, either urgently or electively, we will help arrange your care before and after. We coordinate with hospitalists, surgeons, and other health care professionals with your best interest in mind.

In the Direct Primary Care model, we have created time for health education. We look forward to your questions, and won’t cut you short or gloss over the details.
